Youth Director's Report (Ed Patricks)
March
February is always a busy month for the Youth Director. This is the month of our Basketball Free Throw Contest. Our Council 9899 Winners for 2006 were: Ginger McNamara - Girls 10 year old; Adrian Adams - Boys 10 year old; Jo'ell Adams - Boys 11 year old; and Mark Swazye - Boys 13 year old.
These four players went on to District level and three out of four won at district. Ginger McNamara; Adrian Adams, and Mark Swazye will get to go on to the Regional Tournament. Hopefully they can win at regional and represent our council in the State Tournament. Good luck to all our winners.
We hope to have our winners with us at the March Business Meeting to present them with their Council Champion patch and plaque.
I would also like to thank the following brother knights who came out and helped me at our Council 9899 Basketball Free Throw Contest. Thanks to: Pat Sinnet, Pat Spalten, Chuck Spalten, Mike Valentine, Richard MacIver, Gene Brunelle, Mark Roth, Mark Knickerbocker; Joe Mimnaugh, Robert McNamara, Mike Mahoney, and John Mendoza.
February
January is the one month out of the church year where we get a very brief image of Jesus during his youth in the Gospel readings at mass. Just as his Mother Mary and Foster Father Saint Joseph believed in Jesus on his road to manhood, we as Knights are called to show belief in our Youth and let them know that we truly care.
It was great to have our Soccer Challenge Winners get their awards at the start of our last meeting. Looking forward to this Challenge again next year!
At the beginning of our February meeting we will have our two first place Substance Abuse Awareness Poster Winners get their certificates and gift certificates. Ages 8 thru 11 winner: Julissa Miralrio and Ages 12 thru 14 winner: Aubon B. Opena. Please give them our top 9899 welcome.
Our Basketball Free Throw Contest will have taken place as of this article being published. I look forward to listing our top winners and all our wonderful members who showed up to help in our next newsletter. I hope to present the winners of our Free Throw Contest their top awards at our March Business meeting.
